EVENT INFORMATION

Join us for the 2020 New Zealand Masters National Championships. The event schedule will align with the international competition format of descending age categories, alternating between women and men. Please note the age you will be on December 31st 2020 determines the age category you fall within. We are expecting 4-6 sessions (entry number dependant) to run from late morning on the 17th until mid-afternoon on the 18th. Athletes can amend their entry details until the end of Verification of Entries, 6pm Thursday October 15th. A reminder that change of weight class is only required before the end of Verification of Entries if an athlete is going into a lighter weightclass. Athletes may change to a higher weightclass at the time of weigh in (i.e. a female entered in the 59kg class who weighs in at 59.4kg can compete in the 64kg class). Final start lists and session times will be released following this. This event will be livestreamed.

All entered athletes must be registered with Olympic Weightlifting New Zealand in order to enter this event, however there is no qualifying total required. This year as a result of COVID-19 disruptions no previous competition experience is required. Results from this event are eligible to set New Zealand Masters records, and qualify athletes for the 2021 World Masters Games.

Please note that October 17th is the rescheduled date of the 2020 New Zealand election and you may wish to make prior voting arrangements.

While Functional Strength Olympic are hosting this event, original hosts were Waitakere Olympic Weightlifting. The event logo and t-shirt reflect this.
